
Background:
Originally from Iowa, Jim has lived in Boulder since 1983. Like many Boulderites, Jim was attracted to Boulder by its beautiful setting, dynamic community, and its active lifestyle. After working in the local print media for sixteen years, Jim changed careers in 1999 to commercial real estate and joined Gibbons-White, Inc.
During the past eight years, Jim has completed over 165 transactions totaling over $42MM in revenue and over 550,000 square feet of office, retail, and industrial space in the Boulder and Denver metro markets. Jim’s primary emphasis is on Tenant/Buyer/Investor representation. He works with select Landlord representations/listings.
Jim has been very involved with the Commercial Brokers of Boulder, serving twice as its President and for six years on its board. This association is the commercial real estate marketing group for Boulder County, serving 120 members with monthly meetings, information exchanges, and extensive networking opportunities. Jim arranged the speakers for the CBB monthly meetings for most of the past seven years.
Jim maintains his involvement with the local media by providing a weekly column on commercial real estate for the business section of the Boulder community newspaper, the Daily Camera. He also contributes to the Boulder County Business Report, the Colorado Real Estate Journal, and the Denver Metro Commercial Association of Realtors (DMCAR) News.
Experience and Education:
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in the Liberal Arts from the University of Iowa in 1982, Jim proceeded to finish a thesis-track Master of Arts degree in both Journalism and Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1995. He is currently earning his Commercial Education Certificate from DMCAR and the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.
Activities and Involvements:
Jim is an avid road bicyclist who enjoys the Colorado riding and racing schedule each spring, summer, and fall. During the winter he stays in shape with a bit of Nordic skiing. He lives with his wife and daughter in the Holiday Neighborhood of North Boulder.
